Happy birthday brother

It’s my little brother’s birthday today.
He’s 27.
And he’s not quite little in height anymore.
He’s 6′4″.
Or is it 6′5″?
Anyway, he’s tall.
I was taller than he was for a while.
Before grade 9.
People kept telling me that he would grow taller than I.
I shushed them like they were cursing.
But lo and behold they were right.
Sigh.
My brother is miracle.
When he was three, he had meningitis.
He was in a coma and the doctors said that if he were to survive… if… he would be physically and mentally disabled.
God is good.
He is neither (well the mentally part I could easily argue…
…)
He went onto university, where he played basketball and football.
He is now a high school teacher.
And a member of the Vancouver Titans, our pro basketball team.
Doctors don’t trump God.
He is going to be famous one day.
Just because he is so freaking talented.
Just wait and see.
I’ll be bragging,
“That’s my little brother!”
I already do.
My first little brother is 27 today.
Happy birthday Emmy.

Happy Birthday, Emmy!
I really thank God that he suffered no ill effects from the meningitis.
